We believe you don’t have to live by the sea to feel connected to it. Every piece is personally hand crafted with intention and attention to detail, allowing the natural beauty of each shell to shine through while creating a piece designed to last.
Meet Chelsey
Hi, I am Chelsey, the founder of Root & Reef.
I was born and raised in Colorado, and so was my husband, Nate. We have been married for 22 years and together have two children, Courteney (21) and Landon (16).
We are a fairly outdoorsy family who love exploring, trying new things, and spending time together. My husband and I have always been drawn to the sea, and now our kids share that love as well. One of our biggest dreams is to eventually move to Florida as a family of four, along with our Klee Kai, Chewy, and grow Root & Reef into a family business actually by the sea!
Why Shells
I have always loved seashells and making jewelry, so starting this business feels like a natural way to bring them together. After years of taking care of my family, I am excited to finally make something of my own. What makes this more special is my little family wants to be a part of it and support me in turning something that started with my passion into a successful business.
Most of the shells I use, aside from a few filler shells, were found by myself or my family during our trips around the Caribbean. I love that they are not just pretty shells, but little pieces of places that we have visited, which makes it even more special and near to my heart.
What’s Next
I love being creative and using nature to make something that reflects our own personality. My goal is to grow Root & Reef into a business where I can make personalized pieces and custom, one-of-a-kind jewelry that feels unique to the person wearing it.
Root & Reef is my way of bringing a little piece of the sea to Colorado, and hopefully to others that love the sea as much as we do!
